Recapping the Inaugural Ephesoft INNOVATE Conference
What a show! We’ve just come back from the inaugural Ephesoft INNOVATE Conference and wanted to share some highlights from the event.
Ephesoft INNOVATE 2015
It was great to have so many visitors to our Oscars-themed booth. From our very own version of Mike & Ike’s to popcorn and our walk of fame stars, everyone had a great time talking SmartCapture™.
Appropriately, the initial presentation covered “Why call the event INNOVATE”—by noting that it was really an obvious choice since innovation was built from the beginning into the DNA of Ephesoft. Starting with the initial release as the first 100% web-based SmartCapture solution, with pricing based on servers, not on clicks or pages, and pricing options to match the needs of customers—subscription, perpetual, cloud. This was followed by advances such as:
- Full web services APIs which allows Ephesoft to be embedded within ECM, ERP, CRM and other applications
- First Intelligent Document Capture (IDC) platform to run on Linux
- Free SnapDoc mobile capture application and a low cost mobile SDK
- And now, big data for big documents with Ephesoft Universe
Given such innovations, it’s not surprising that 2014 was such an exceptional year—seeing sales double and ending the year with over 250 customers in 27 countries. Key growth markets included banking, insurance, manufacturing, and government as well as continued strength in accounts payable/invoice processing.
Also covered in great depth was the release of Ephesoft 4.0 with an updated user interface/user screens—with more data, more analytics, and better organization. These improvements make it easier to use and manage and faster to deploy. The new release includes full reporting and analytics engine as well as a new Activiti workflow engine from jBPM.
So here are the top four reasons to upgrade to 4.0:

And coming soon—Ephesoft Universe—delivering “Big Data for Documents” with Ephesoft SmartCapture, Hadoop, and full analytics/reporting capabilities. This new offering from Ephesoft will provide actionable insights based on the all of the information contained within documents, not just the extracted fields. This document mining solution will allow organizations to get the benefits of big data without the multi-year, multi-million dollar projects that are common today.
