This year’s AIIM conference provided timely topics, interaction with leaders in the industry, and of course, exciting networking. Meanwhile, the Zia and Ephesoft sponsored craft beer tasting (“Got Beer?”) was brewing
with big ideas and hopping with fun. All punning aside, it was a great event and thank you to all who were able to attend!
For a unique twist on our usual recap blog, for the 2015 AIIM Conference, we thought we’d bring you a review of the leading questions and topics that we heard from visitors to the booth, as a snapshot of what was being discussed at the event.
1. SharePoint
- This is a HUGE concern for both private and public sector organizations. Everyone is using it, everyone will continue to use it, and everyone is struggling with how to manage SharePoint sprawl. Top specific issues were: How to find information, or the right information, within SharePoint. How to address Records Management/Compliance with SharePoint. How to integrate SharePoint with critical business applications—from ERP to CRM systems.
2. Content Security
- Fixing this concern might be the top way to get funding right now because nobody wants to be the next Sony Pictures or Anthem. Organizations are concerned about managing security around Dropbox, email, SharePoint, USB’s and even documents on shared drives.
3. Paper
- Even in 2015, paper continues to be a major issue. Companies question when to digitize, what to digitize, and how to digitize. But, most importantly, how to classify documents as they are scanned, extract critical data, and then assign retention and disposition schedules.
4. The Cloud
- Companies want to know how to use it securely and where to use it within the organization. How to manage secure external collaboration and whether the cloud should even be part of that strategy. From what we heard, most felt that some type of hybrid cloud model might be ideal for their deployment.
5. Automating BPM/Workflow
- A continuing goal for this year is how to automate document processing for contracts/procurement, human resources, and many other use cases. Of course, these solutions must also be integrated with accounting/ERP or HR/HCM or other critical business applications to provide real value.
Do any of these topics sound like issues that are being discussed within your organization right now? They are certainly top of mind at Zia, too, as we continue to work to find ways to solve the ECM concerns that are facing CIO’s today. Read our blog here on how this content chaos was created and how to solve it, or discover how our solution, Adhere for Alfresco, addresses several of these concerns including SharePoint sprawl, content security, and more.
