Solving the challenges of managing documents and records
A successful event is in the books! We’re thankful to all those who attended and were engaged throughout the day with questions and comments. Attendees at the Content Solutions summit were able to gain knowledge from presentations and forge relationships with peers, including quite a few existing Alfresco customers in attendance.
We kicked off the day with Mike Mahon, CEO at Zia, who took the stage to discuss the key themes for the day including:
- Content solutions that work with your existing business systems to automate processes
- Methodology to modernize ECM systems with reduced risk
- Solutions that truly provide innovation to your business, including cloud services
Brian Gray, CIO of Baldwin & Lyons Insurance, discussed how their IT organization worked in partnership with Zia to transform their business through mailroom automation and intelligent claims document routing. This was done without replacing their core claims management systems. We also migrated more than 10 million documents to a modern ECM system in just seven days and added federated search.
Building on the Baldwin & Lyons case study, Pat Myers, EVP of Zia Consulting, discussed how these automation solutions deliver immediate business results for almost any organization. Working with additional examples, including loan processing and invoice automation, Pat demonstrated live to the audience how these solutions work with existing tools. He was joined by Kevin Ells, Marketing Director at Ephesoft, who demonstrated the latest Smart Capture® functionality and features.
After lunch, Thomas DeMeo, VP Product Management at Alfresco, shared the content- and process-related trends impacting enterprises, giving insight into the capabilities required to stay competitive in the market. He reviewed concerns around existing content systems and how Alfresco addresses the needs of the modern enterprise. Thomas shared an insightful Forrester Report on thought leadership for a better workflow.
Tuan Le, Director/Solution Architect, and Srini Kanchanavally, Enterprise Architect, at Sony Pictures Entertainment then took the stage to share how many feel that the perceived risks associated with migration to a new ECM system outweigh the value provided. They then showed how they mitigated this risk and successfully migrated to Alfresco through a well-defined content migration process.
Through a customer case study, Phil Robinson, SVP at Zia Consulting, discussed the business case for modernizing content systems and provided details on Zia’s migration methodology, ActiveMigrate, including a look at strategies for coexistence with legacy ECM systems. In addition, he formally introduced Zia Cloud Services for AWS with details on offerings from cloud migration and integration, to hybrid cloud solutions and managed cloud hosting.
The final speakers of the day were Tara Combs, Alfresco RM Specialist, and Faron Lyons, ARMA LA board member, discussing one of the foremost business challenges—managing electronic records. They discussed solutions such as automatically connecting content creators with the compliance process to increase adoption, the unique value provided through the Alfresco RM platform, and integrating with systems like Outlook, SAP, and Salesforce.
During the day, attendees were able to spend time with sponsors Alfresco, Ephesoft, Snowbound, and SeeUnity. This time offered networking opportunities as well as learning about new technologies and best-in-class strategies.
