This Giving Tuesday, consider donating blood. I became a blood donor only after both of my children had premature births. One of them needed blood. While I wasn’t the right blood type for her, I realized that my donations could be helpful to others. For me, it’s easy to donate blood every 60 days. The thought that this can help save lives makes me feel good. Some years after my children were born, I signed up for the National Marrow Donor Program on the off chance that I could potentially be someone’s match and help save a life that way.
In Colorado, where Zia is based, December 10 is Colorado Gives Day. Visit the website to discover how to contribute time or money in other ways. I’ve been going to the Colorado Gives website for a number of years to donate to nonprofits and I like that I can search for different types of causes around my community.
At Zia, we try and foster a community of giving with volunteer activities to help our local and greater communities. If you’re looking for a gift to give this season or are just thinking about how you might help others, consider how you might give.
Happy Holidays!
