On Thursday, October 3rd, Alfresco and partner Zia Consulting sponsored the AIIM Seminar on Information Governance in Chicago, Illinois. The event was well attended by over 100 records management professionals. The day started with a keynote session from AIIM President John Mancini entitled “From Records Management to Information Governance – changing the role of information professionals by taking charge!” Presentations on practical applications followed including a session from Ryan McVeigh, VP-Sales at Zia, on “Making Records Management Easy”. Our team felt the AIIM and vendor presentations were interesting and well researched–the audience must have agreed as they were highly engaged and asked great questions, specifically of the two expert panels. Not only were attendees clearly interested in governance but also in mobile and capture technologies. There was a lot of discussion around mobile technologies, the concept of “Bring Your Own Device” (BYOD), and how it all applies to information governance.
“It seems that some professionals are struggling with the BYOD concept and records managers are still looking for solutions that work… and that IT can deploy in a cost-effective manner,” said Ryan McVeigh. “Utilizing open source RM technology from Alfresco, we’re confident we can deliver solutions that can meet the needs expressed by AIIM attendees.”
The day concluded with an interactive summary session, “8 Steps for the Future – what should you do to move forward and get results?” All in all, this event was a great opportunity to expand the message of Easy RM with Alfresco to a targeted audience.
